Accommodation
Housing for Exchange Students Autumn Semester 2012. Now open for Applications!
Metropolitan University College receives approximately 100 exchange students per semester. Typically half of the exchange students ask Metropolitan University College to find accommodation for them. Usually we can accommodate all applicants in either Students Residences or Private accommodations, but we only have a limited number of housing options.
Application:
Only when you have received the formal Acceptance Letter from the International Department at Metropolitan University College, you can submit the completed Housing Application Form by using the SEND button in the electronic Adobe Reader Application Form, to international@phmetropol.dk and include a copy of the receipt for transferring the non refundable Housing Fee of 1.200 DKK. Then you will be eligible to receive one Housing Offer.
You can download the Housing Application Form here.
Housing:
The accommodation offered will be in either single room in Student Residence halls, or single rooms in privately owned apartments. Monthly rent for private accommodations range between, approximately 2.500 DKK to 3.500 DKK.
Housing contracts cannot be cancelled.
For rooms at Student Residences you will have to pay a non-refundable semester rent, including one month rent deposit and Metropolitan University College administration and general maintenance fee, which covers furnishings, kitchen equipment, bed linen, duvets, towels and final cleaning.
All accommodations are single rooms with private bath and shared kitchen. Please refer to the Housing Application Form for more details.
Short term accommodation possibilities:
If you are looking for accommodation for just a few days or for a shorter period of time, Metropolitan University College can recommend Generator Hostel in Central Copenhagen at favourable rates for our exchange students. No Housing Application is necessary and no Housing Fee will be charged for this option.
For further information on this option click here.
Exchange student accommodations are offered on a first come first served principle:
You can request for accommodation in a specific Student Residence, but as they are offered at a 'first come – first serve' principle, we cannot guarantee that you request will be granted. Due to the high demand for student housing, we are only able to make one housing offer per student.
Location and transport:
Metropolitan University College has agreements with four Student Residences located in the greater Copenhagen area (5-10 km from the city centre) and a number of private accommodations. Sometimes accommodation is provided via our own students renting out their rooms, while they are away on exchange programmes.
The Student Halls and most private rooms are located in the suburbs of Copenhagen. Depending on your place of study or placement, you can expect a daily commute of up to one hour each way and public transportation costs of up to approx. 600 DKK per month. Many Danish students prefer to save money by cycling. A used bike will cost approx. 500 DKK
