Xiaoling Xue &Yan Lin went for their work placement in a Danish international school's after school care program

The After School Care Program is from Monday to Friday from 1-5 p.m. and placed at a school where the individual comes first and aim at identifying and appreciating the unique potential of each pupil. The program offer arts and crafts, free play, drama, snacks and other games or activities.

Our tasks as LC&FM students were to find ideas to engage children in learning about healthy food patterns and the benefit of doing

We learned a lot about international health communication directed at children

fun physical activity. We prepared snacks and talked about nutritious food, had the children drew their favorite healthy foods/snacks and we planned games where kids had to move at high intensity and use their body to the fullest.
We learned a lot about international health communication directed at children and it was very interesting to get some hands on experience in applying our knowledge within nutrition and health.

Key learning experiences:

  • Health related teaching experience
  • Knowledge of the various tasks related to an after-school program
  • Knowledge of different perspectives of teacher professionals
  • Experience with children, a highly relevant target group for health promotion
  • Importance of networks with potential employers of LCFM graduates
